Agnikul – World’s 1st 3D Printed Rocket launched in India!
In a groundbreaking achievement, IIT Madras’ startup Agnikul Cosmos has successfully launched the world’s first rocket. Powered by a single-piece three-dimensional (3D) printed engine. The rocket, named Agnibaan SOrTeD (SubOrbital Technological Demonstrator). Marks India’s first semi-cryogenic engine-powered rocket launch that was entirely designed and manufactured domestically.
The launch took place at 7:15 a.m. today from ‘Dhanush.’ India’s first privately developed launchpad established by Agnikul at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. This test flight aims to showcase in-house technologies, gather critical flight data. And ensure the systems function optimally for Agnikul’s orbital launch vehicle, the Agnibaan.

ISRO Chairman S. Somanath congratulated Agnikul Cosmos on their successful launch, stating that this milestone motivates ISRO to support space startups and non-governmental entities, fostering innovation and Atmanirbharata to create a vibrant space ecosystem in India.
The Agnibaan is a two-stage rocket capable of carrying up to 300 kg to an altitude of 700 km. Powered by engines using liquid oxygen or kerosene, the rocket is designed to access both low- and high-inclination orbits. It is fully mobile and capable of launching from more than 10 different ports, according to Agnikul Cosmos.
