Bhaiyya Ji Movie Review
Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, Bhaiyya Ji centers on a man seeking revenge for his younger brother’s murder. Entering the theater to watch Manoj Bajpayee’s 100th film, I was eager to see his performance but left questioning if it lived up to the hype.
In the film, Bajpayee plays Ram Charan, also known as Bhaiyya Ji, who becomes a gangster after his brother is brutally killed by a goon’s son in Delhi. The movie follows familiar patterns seen in many Telugu and Tamil films, with similar settings, character behaviors, and dramatic introductions. It portrays its protagonist as committing crimes for the greater good, a common trope in South Indian cinema.
Despite using a well-worn formula, Karki keeps the audience engaged with high-quality action scenes. However, the film has several flaws. The climax suffers from inconsistent settings, and the low budget is evident, particularly in poorly executed VFX scenes, such as an unconvincing river fall. Predictability is another issue, with many scenes telegraphing their outcomes.
Though Manoj Bajpayee delivers a sincere performance, he doesn’t quite fit the character of Bhaiyya Ji. The film’s shortcomings overshadow his efforts, making Bhaiyya Ji a less-than-stellar addition to his impressive filmography.
