BJP’s Hyderabad Lok Sabha candidate K. Madhavi Latha filed her nomination after leading a rally from the historic Charminar on Wednesday. She began her day by offering prayers at the Bhagya Laxmi temple. Before heading to the Hyderabad district collectorate to submit her nomination papers.
The rally was attended by hundreds of BJP supporters, all carrying party flags and chanting slogans. As they marched through key areas such as Gulzar Houz, Pathergatti, Madina, Naya Pul, and Afzal Gunj. Wearing saffron robes, Madhavi Latha participated in the temple rituals, which included blowing the conch as part of her prayers.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur. Later joined the rally and urged people to support the BJP candidate in the upcoming elections. Speaking to reporters at Charminar, Madhavi Latha called for public support to defeat what she termed the ‘communal’ parties. Namely AIMIM, Congress, and BRS.

The BJP nominee has faced controversy after a video showed her mimicking the gesture of firing an imaginary arrow toward a mosque during a Ram Navami procession. However, she has stated that the video was edited to defame her, alleging that her political rivals are using such tactics because they fear losing the election.
Regarding the ongoing debate about the hijab in educational institutions, Madhavi Latha commented that while Muslim women studying in madrasas can wear hijab, a religious dress code should not be allowed in common schools. She emphasized that under Article 30 of the Indian Constitution, minorities have the right to establish their own schools, but common schools should maintain a secular environment.
Madhavi Latha’s nomination rally comes just days after AIMIM held a similar rally from the historic Mecca Masjid near Charminar, where AIMIM chief and sitting MP Asaduddin Owaisi led a procession to file his nomination papers. The convergence of these rallies at Charminar underscores the intensity of the election campaign in Hyderabad and the high stakes involved.
