ECI Issues Notice to KCR Over Derogatory Remarks Against Congress
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has served a notice to BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. For allegedly making derogatory remarks against the Congress during a press conference in Sircilla. The notice requires an explanation from him by 11 am on April 18.
The notice comes in response to a complaint filed by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) vice-president G Niranjan. Alleging that Rao made vulgar and objectionable allegations against the Congress during his press conference on April 5, 2024.
ECI Sends Notice to KCR Over Alleged Derogatory Remarks Against Congress
In the notice, ECI Principal Secretary Avinash Kumar stated that the Commission is prima facie of the opinion that Rao violated the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) with his remarks. Rao has been given an opportunity to explain his stance on the remarks by the specified deadline.
Kumar emphasized that if Rao fails to respond within the given time frame, it will be assumed that he has nothing to say in the matter, and the Commission will proceed with appropriate action or decision without further reference.
