Hyderabad Airport Metro: 14-Km Stretch with 13 Stations Planned from Nagole to Chandrayangutta
Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) officials, led by Managing Director NVS Reddy, conducted an inspection on Saturday, April 27. To assess the 14-km stretch of the Nagole-Chandrayangutta section of the upcoming Airport Metro line. This walk-through aimed to finalize the alignment of the new Airport Metro and determine the ideal locations for stations.
This section encompasses 13 stations, beginning from the existing Nagole station and extending through several key junctions and landmarks. Including Nagole X roads, Alkapuri X roads, Kamineni Hospital, LB Nagar junction, Nagarjuna Sagar ring road. Mythri Nagar, Karmanghat, Champapet junction. Owaisi Hospital, DRDO, Hafeez Babanagar, and ending at Chandrayangutta.
According to a press release from Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML). The new Nagole Airport Metro station will be situated near the existing Nagole station, on the left side toward LB Nagar. A wide skywalk at the concourse level will connect the two stations, ensuring a seamless transfer of passengers.
The alignment will shift about 10 meters to the left near Musi to avoid relocating large water mains. And high-tension electrical lines. To accommodate Musi rejuvenation efforts, longer spans will be implemented for crossing the river. Additionally, HAML mentioned that another station will be planned after crossing Musi to provide connectivity to the road coming from Kottapet junction, serving nearby residential colonies.

The proposed Nagole RTO station will be positioned near Alkapuri junction. Close to the Lucky Restaurant, offering convenient access to the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Challenges will be faced at the LB Nagar junction station, where the station must be connected to the existing LB Nagar station. Of Corridor-I (Miyapur-LB Nagar) via a skywalk. This skywalk will be designed with sufficient width to accommodate walkalators for passengers’ convenience.
The presence of multiple high flyovers at the Bairamalguda/Sagar road junction requires that the Airport Metro line be shifted to the right side of the flyovers, enabling a more manageable construction height for the Bairamalguda/Sagar road junction Metro station. HAML stated that this would help mitigate the challenges posed by the current infrastructure.
HAML further noted that proposed stations at Mythri Nagar, Karmanghat, Champapet Road junction. Owaisi Hospital, DRDO, Hafeez Baba Nagar, and other locations must be positioned close to junction points to serve the nearby residential colonies. The construction of the Chandrayangutta interchange station will be particularly challenging. Due to the presence of a flyover and the required terminal station facilities for extending the Old City Metro up to Chandrayangutta.
Overall, this inspection and realignment process are vital steps in ensuring that the Airport Metro serves the community effectively, while also accommodating existing infrastructure and future development plans.
