Hyderabad Heavy Rains: Relieved by Following Sweltering Heat Wave

Residents of Hyderabad are breathing a sigh of relief as heavy showers bring respite from scorching temperatures. The city experienced substantial rainfall, lasting up to an hour. Soaking several areas including Kapra, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad Cantonment, Secunderabad, Osmania University, and Uppal. These brief yet powerful showers, accompanied by mild to moderate thunderstorms, provided a temporary reprieve from the relentless daytime heat.

Before the rains, extreme temperatures were recorded across various parts of the state. According to data from the TS Development Planning Society (TSDPS). Madugulapally in Nalgonda district and Hajipur in Mancherial district soared to a staggering 45.2°C on Thursday. Mercury levels surpassed 45 degrees in districts like Mulugu, Warangal, Wanaparthy, and Jagtial. The heat wave conditions were particularly severe in districts. Such as Kothagudem, Jayashankar, Nalgonda, Siddipet, Suryapet, and Warangal, with temperatures exceeding 43°C.

Within the GHMC limits, the situation was equally harsh, with most areas surpassing the 40°C mark. Chandanagar recorded the highest temperature at 42.8°C. However, relief is on the horizon as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has predicted significant rainfall in the coming days.

According to the IMD forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squalls are expected to hit various districts from April 19 to April 22. Rainfall is anticipated in isolated areas of Karimnagar, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet districts, providing much-needed relief to residents from the scorching heat wave conditions.
