Malaika Arora Is The Badass Role Model We Need: 3 Reasons, Why!
Nothing has been able to budge Malaika Arora from living her life on her own terms.
Amid the bustling world of showbiz, only a few celebrities dare to live their lives on their own terms despite being under scrutiny all the time. Their journey in the glitzy world is majorly built around the scoops we get from their personal life. While some keep putting effortsto fix their public image anyhow, others just don’t give in to the pressure around them.
The diva is an embodiment of how one should live for themselves. From being brutally shamed for her sartorial picks to being called out for falling in love after her split, she has seen it all through her journey of over two-decade in Bollywood. However, little did any of it could budge her from living her life on her own terms.
Malaika Arora’s new show, Moving In With Malaika, streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar takes us inside her life, up close and personal. Few episodes in and we already know why Arora is the idol we need in our lives.
Malaika Arora Is The Badass Role Model We Need: 3 Reasons, Why!
She Doesn’t Give In To The Society’s Misogynist Approach
Arora separated with her husband Arbaaz Khan in 2016 and was viciously trolled for dating Arjun Kapoor, a man younger than her. Well, this was not the first time a female celebrity chose to enter into an age-gap relationship. However, Arora falling for a younger man, leaving the society offended was proof enough of the fact that the taboo continues to exist.
Arora was called demeaning names, and labelled the most inappropriate terms because the society, the judge and jury, still hasn’t been able to normalise age-gap relationships or to put it in simpler words, an older woman dating a younger man.
Little did it affect Malaika. In an interview, Arora talked about the misogynist approach of the society when it comes to female relationships. She said, “It’s very important for women to have a life after a breakup or a divorce… There’s a misogynist approach to female relationships. It’s often considered a sacrilege for a woman to date a younger man.”
Arora added, “I’m a reflection of my mother, as I embody her strength and grit, and mirror her life subconsciously. She always told me to live life on my terms and be independent.”
She Doesn’t Justify What She Chooses To Wear
What a woman chooses to wear continues to be everybody else’s business even today. Dare to wear an outfit that doesn’t fit their fashion criteria in your 40s and they will be quick to moral police you. Malaika Arora is often called out for her sartorial picks. Comments read that she is ‘too old’ for most outfits and there seems no end to the style shaming there.
Every time Malaika Arora posts a picture on her social media, trolls flood it with hate, leaving us all flabbergasted. Malaika always ends up being a victim of slut-shaming. Know Arora’s way to deal with them? She doesn’t pay attention to any of the trolls, that is her befitting reply to all those who just can’t get enough of spewing hate on her looks.
She Celebrates Her Age
Among addressing everything about her life that left the society offended on her show. Right from her age gap with bae Arjun Kapoor to her split with ex-husband Arbaaz Khan. Arora also spoke about age shaming. Rightly, during her standup on her show, Moving In With Malaika. Arora shared that people have an issue with her ageing majorly because she ‘looks like this’ as she is ageing. She called out the ‘jalkukdi (jealous)’ people during the standup. Malaika is reverse-ageing and one needs no proof for it.
Interestingly, all this misogynist chatter around how a woman should look like in her age bracket – the 30s. 40s, 50s and so on doesn’t ever happen about a man. While on one hand, Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan among others are celebrated for defying their age. Hailed for looking fitter and better than ever before, the state of affairs is completely contrasting for a female celebrity like Malaika Arora.
