Modern Masters: Fans Criticize Telugu Trailer of SS Rajamouli Documentary

SS Rajamouli is more than just a name; he’s a brand synonymous with blockbuster success. Known for his masterful storytelling, Rajamouli has been the driving force behind Prabhas’ pan-India fame and the global stardom of Ram Charan and Jr NTR.

To honor his illustrious career, Netflix has launched a new series called Modern Masters. With a special documentary focused on SS Rajamouli. The trailer for Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli was released on July 22 in multiple languages.

Despite the excitement, the trailer has faced significant backlash from Telugu fans. The documentary, which will premiere on August 2 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam, showcases Rajamouli’s dedication and perfectionism on set. It features insights from notable figures such as Prabhas, Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and Rajamouli’s wife, Rama Rajamouli, who contributes as a costume designer.

Modern Masters: Fans Criticize Telugu Trailer of SS Rajamouli Documentary

The documentary highlights Rajamouli’s preference for working with his own team. Which includes his family members in key roles—except for cinematographer KK Senthil Kumar. This close-knit collaboration has been a cornerstone of his success.

The criticism stems from the use of dubbed voices for Telugu-speaking actors and technicians. Including Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Prabhas, and Rama Rajamouli, who are all native speakers. Viewers were surprised and disappointed by the decision to use Telugu dubbing for these prominent figures. Feeling it undermined the authenticity of the documentary.

The trailer also features comments from Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron and Bollywood host Karan Johar, adding to the documentary’s star-studded appeal.
