N Convention Controversy: AV Ranganath Breaks Silence
AV Ranganath, the current head of HYDRA, has finally addressed the controversy. Surrounding the demolition of Akkineni Nagarjuna’s N-Convention in Madhapur. Shortly after the demolition, Nagarjuna took to his X profile to share his perspective. Stating that the construction was not illegal as the building was on the patta land that he owned. Ranganath recently provided clarification on this matter in an interview.
Ranganath confirmed that while N-Convention was indeed constructed on patta land, such land is designated for agricultural use only, not for building structures. He further explained that it lacked the necessary permissions for construction and that the entire building was within the Full Tank Level (FTL) zone.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) issued a preliminary notice about this in 2014. In response, the owners of it filed a petition in the High Court challenging the notification. The court then ruled that the land should be surveyed in the presence of the owners. Following the survey, GHMC issued a second notification, confirming the construction was illegal.
Ranganath also mentioned that the owners of it attempted to regularize the building under the Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS) but had been unsuccessful in obtaining the necessary permissions for the past decade.
