Ohio Police Under Scrutiny After Body Cam Footage Shows Officers Pinning Black Man in Bar Incident
Ohio Police are facing intense criticism after body camera footage was released showing officers restraining a Black man in a bar, leading to his death. The footage, reminiscent of the events surrounding George Floyd’s death in 2020, has drawn widespread public attention.
The body camera video, released by the Canton Police Department, depicts the tragic sequence of events. Involving Frank Tyson, a 53-year-old man suspected of leaving the scene of a single-car accident on April 18. The footage reveals officers confronting Tyson inside a bar, leading to a violent struggle. Despite Tyson’s desperate cries for help and repeated shouts of “I can’t breathe.” The officers force him to the ground and restrain him with handcuffs, while one officer applies pressure to his back near his neck.
A disturbing moment from the footage shows one officer saying to Tyson, “You’re fine,” while kneeling on him. Tyson’s cries for relief continue until officers realize his lack of responsiveness. They attempt to administer CPR before paramedics arrive and rush Tyson to a local hospital, where he later dies.

One officer can be heard making a shocking comment about how he “always wanted to be in a bar fight.” Further exacerbating public outrage over the incident. This behavior, along with Tyson’s death, bears uncomfortable similarities to the high-profile death of George Floyd. Which ignited global protests against police brutality and racial injustice.
As a result, the officers involved in the incident, identified as Beau Schoenegge and Camden Burch. Have been placed on administrative leave. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has launched a thorough investigation into the events surrounding Tyson’s death to determine whether excessive force or misconduct played a role.
The release of this footage has reignited discussions about police conduct and the use of force, especially in interactions with Black individuals. The investigation’s outcome is eagerly awaited as it will determine the appropriate course of action and whether charges will be filed against the officers involved.
