Paris Olympics 2024: Third medal for India from Swapnil Kusale
Swapnil Kusale secured a bronze medal for India in the 50m rifle 3 Positions event on Thursday at the Paris Olympics 2024.
This bronze marks India’s third medal at the Paris Olympics, with Kusale achieving a total score of 451.4. The gold was claimed by China’s Yukun Liu, who scored 463.6, while Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish took the silver with a score of 461.3.
Paris Olympics 2024 Medals
All three of India’s medals at the Paris Olympics so far have come from shooting events. Manu Bhaker won the first medal, a bronze, in the women’s 10m air pistol event and then secured another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh. This achievement marks the first time India has won more than two medals in a single sport at an Olympic Games.
The 50m Rifle 3 Positions Event
The final of the 50m rifle 3 Positions includes three rounds. Competitors shoot 15 shots each in the kneeling and prone positions, followed by 10 shots in the standing position, before moving to the elimination round.
Kusale’s Performance
Kusale excelled in the kneeling position with a score of 153.3, followed by 156.8 in the prone position, and 101.5 in the standing position. In the elimination round, he shot scores of 10.5, 9.4, 9.9, and 10 to clinch the bronze medal for India. He qualified for the final by scoring 590-38x in the qualification round.
