Prime Minister Narendra Modi has doubled down on his criticism of the Congress party’s stance on “wealth redistribution.” Accusing them of aiming to take control of people’s assets and redistribute them. His comments, made at a public rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh. Came a day after he sparked controversy with similar remarks during a Lok Sabha poll rally in Rajasthan’s Banswara on Sunday.
Modi referenced statements made by former Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Who suggested that if the Congress party came to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It would conduct a financial and institutional survey to determine who holds the country’s wealth. Gandhi hinted at the possibility of redistributing the wealth based on the findings of such a survey. The Prime Minister warned that the Congress and its allies in the INDI alliance have their eyes set on people’s earnings and property.
“The ‘Prince of Congress’ [Rahul Gandhi] says when their government comes to power. How much property you have, how many houses you have, it will be enquired into. If you have an ancestral home, if you have a flat in the city, Congress may even take one out of these two. This is Maoist, communist thinking. That is what they want to implement in India,” Modi remarked.
During the rally, PM Modi voiced his concerns over the impact such policies could have on everyday people. Especially women and families with ancestral wealth. He emphasized that the proposed surveys would not only investigate general property but also look into specific assets like gold and silver. Referring to traditional practices, he mentioned that many families consider ‘stree dhan’ or women’s wealth as sacred. Highlighting that even the law recognizes its significance.

“The ‘Shehzada’ of Congress says that if their government comes to power, they will investigate who earns how much, who has how many properties. Our mothers and sisters have gold. It is ‘stree dhan’, it is considered sacred, the law also protects it. Now these people’s eyes are on the ‘Mangalsutra’ of women. Their intention is to steal the gold of mothers and sisters,” the Prime Minister stated.
PM Modi accused the Congress of aiming to loot the country’s wealth. Suggesting they believe it is their birthright to do so. He alleged that dynastic politics has fueled these ideas, allowing political families to build their own empires at the expense of ordinary citizens. Modi further commented that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks about minorities having the first claim on the country’s resources indicated the Congress’s intent to snatch valuables from citizens and redistribute them to “infiltrators.”
