Rajinikanth Says That Aishwarya Was the First Choice for Neelambari
Superstar Rajinikanth’s legendary movie Narasimha is all set to return to the big screen 25 years after its first release. The film, which holds a special place in Rajini’s career, is gearing up for a grand re-release on December 12, 2025, marking the icon’s birthday.
To celebrate this milestone, a special video featuring Rajinikanth was unveiled. In it, the superstar revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes detail that surprised many fans. He shared that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the initial choice to play the powerful antagonist Neelambari. The team had even approached her for the role, as the character was designed to be impactful and unlike anything usually offered to leading actresses at the time.

However, Aishwarya couldn’t take up the part due to scheduling conflicts. With her dates unavailable, the makers then brought the role to Ramya Krishnan. Rajinikanth also mentioned that although Aishwarya missed the chance to be part of movie. The two later collaborated on Robo, which became a massive blockbuster across all languages. Their on-screen chemistry and the film’s grand scale made it one of the biggest hits of its time.
