Ramoji Rao, the Media Baron dies at 87
Ramoji Rao, head of the ETV Network and Ramoji Film City, passed away at 87 while undergoing treatment in Hyderabad today. He had been rushed to Star Hospital on June 5 after experiencing high blood pressure and breathlessness. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed in the early hours today.
Ramoji Rao’s body has been moved to his residence at Ramoji Film City, where numerous prominent political leaders and film personalities are expected to arrive to pay their last respects.

Born in 1936, Ramoji Rao was a prominent figure in the media and film industry. He led the Ramoji Group, which owns Ramoji Film City, the world’s largest film production facility. He also headed the Eenadu newspaper, one of the most widely circulated Telugu-language dailies. His influence extended to the rise of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the 1980s. With close ties to former Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers NT Rama Rao and Chandrababu Naidu.
