Revanth Reddy Confirms ‘No Response from Tollywood’
The united Andhra Pradesh government had a tradition of annually awarding Nandi awards to outstanding contributors in TV and film. However, after the state’s bifurcation, the Telangana government ceased this practice, while the Andhra Pradesh government continued for a while.
Upon assuming office, Chief Minister revived this tradition, renaming the awards. Recently, he expressed disappointment over the Telugu film industry’s lack of response to the state’s proposal for the newly established Gaddar Awards. He had announced the awards back in January this year.
Revanth Reddy Confirms ‘No Response from Tollywood’
Months have passed, but the film industry has yet to respond to this initiative. The government had asked for feedback and suggestions on effectively implementing the Gaddar Awards, but there has been no reply from industry professionals.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his commitment to the Gaddar Awards and urged the Telugu film industry to engage and help realize the proposal.
He also added, “I had hoped for a collaborative effort, where the filmmakers, actors, and other stakeholders would come together to make the Gaddar Awards a true celebration of our cinematic heritage. But there has been no response from the Telugu film industry so far. I don’t know the reasons why they are silent. Their input is crucial for the success of this initiative, and their silence is disappointing.”
