“I wanted to make it 18 years ago. But then I thought, there are other films to make first. After each film, ‘Heeramandi’ would come to mind, and I’d think, ‘It’s too vast. Too epic to be squeezed into two or two and a half hours.’ We even considered making it in two parts,” Bhansali explained.

The filmmaker admitted that transforming his vision into a series presented its own set of challenges, but he found the process rewarding. “It’s difficult to make a series, but we’ve made it, and I have enjoyed it. I’m glad and thankful to God that we made it. Fourteen years of planning, 18 years of living with it, and two years of designing. A lot of work has gone into it,” he added.
‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ features a star-studded cast, including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman.
