Sonali Bendre finally breaks her silence on an old yet viral claim. That the cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar said that he would rather kidnap her if she did not accept his proposal.
Here’s what she said, a claim that has been viral over the internet for years now. Shoaib playfully said that if she did not accept my marriage proposal, he would kidnap her. She replied, “Fake news existed even then.”
This was during the promotions of her show, The Broken News Season 2. The actress was on a podcast show with Shubhankar Mishra. And she was reminded of the old comment about the Pakistani cricketer’s comment.

The host also mentioned that the Akhtar also confessed of having a crush on her back then. Sonali said, “Ya, I don’t know how true this is though. Fake news existed even then” She added, “I don’t know if he really said it…” When she was told that the cricketer was a fan of hers, she added, “Thank God for that, my career is because of that (audience loving me)!”
However, Shoaib also clarified that he never said anything like that related to the actress. On his own YouTube page, he posted a video saying that he wanted to put a stop to rumors “once and for all.”
