CM-chaired cabinet has discussed the details of this issue and the interim report by NDSA was examined, deciding to go by the technical team’s advice. These repairs would be given over to the central agencies. Also decided that all the expenses for this project should be borne by the construction agency.
The state government also said to explore the options to make a few sites like rockfill dams for the temporary measures to life water from Medigadda and other barrages.
The Medigadda barrage sank at least three piers in October last year. This raised concerns over the safety and thus NDSA was prompted to send its experts for an inspection. Following which the barrage was emptied as recommended.
