Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent remarks regarding India’s stance on counterterrorism, the United States has urged both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and seek resolution through dialogue.

US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized the importance of avoiding escalation and finding peaceful solutions through diplomatic channels. Miller reiterated the US’s stance of not intervening directly in the matter but encouraged both countries to pursue dialogue for resolving tensions.

Addressing concerns about potential sanctions on India over alleged actions related to a Khalistani terrorist, Miller declined to comment on any specific sanction measures but emphasized that the US does not openly discuss such actions.

Prime Minister Modi, speaking at a public rally in Uttarakhand, highlighted the government’s firm approach towards combating terrorism, asserting that security forces were effectively dealing with terrorists within the country.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh echoed similar sentiments, reaffirming India’s readiness to take action against terrorists across borders if necessary. Singh emphasized that the government would not hesitate to pursue terrorists in their own territory, whether within India or abroad.

In response to reports suggesting Indian government involvement in cross-border operations, Singh asserted that India possesses the capability to address security threats effectively, even beyond its borders. He emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security within the region.

As tensions simmer between India and Pakistan, the United States continues to advocate for de-escalation and dialogue as the preferred means to address differences and maintain stability in the region.
