The practice of requesting Government Orders (GOs) for a ticket price hike during the release of big-budget movies is common in the film industry. The Telangana government, however, has introduced a new requirement for filmmakers and actors seeking such requests.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized the social responsibility of actors. Especially when producing films with multi-crore budgets and aiming for high earnings. He has stipulated that actors in a movie must create an awareness video to combat drug abuse. And submit it along with their application for a ticket price hike.
Revanth Reddy further clarified that no exceptions would be made based on the hero’s stardom. Recently, Megastar Chiranjeevi and NTR produced short videos on ‘Cyber Crime & Anti-Narcotics Awareness’ to meet these new requirements.

The CM reiterated that filmmakers who wish to approach the government with special requests must include such awareness videos as part of their application. This initiative aims to leverage the influence of the film industry to promote social causes and foster greater community responsibility.
In related news, Chiranjeevi has been honored with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, recognizing his immense contributions to Indian cinema and his efforts in various social causes. This accolade further underscores his commitment to making a positive impact both on and off the screen.
With these new guidelines, the Telangana government aims to ensure that the film industry’s power and reach are utilized for the greater good, promoting awareness and addressing critical social issues alongside entertainment.
