Hyderabad Gears Up: ICOMOS Unveils Array of Events for World Heritage Week
From April 14 to May 18, Hyderabad will be abuzz with heritage activities as the International Council on Monuments and Sites, India (ICOMOS). The Deccan Heritage Academy Trust (DHAT), and the Salarjung Museum join hands with the Woxsen School of Architecture and Planning, JBR Architecture College, and the Telangana Sculptors and Artists Association for World Heritage Week.
Kicking off the festivities, a heritage walk from Charminar to Chowmahalla is scheduled for April 14 at 7 am. This walk aims to raise awareness about the city’s rich heritage and architectural styles while delving into its cultural history.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Venice Charter, which coincides with the International Day for Monuments and Sites. A six-week orientation programme is planned from April 14 to May 18.

This program targets students and young professionals, offering them expert lectures, workshops, and visits to heritage sites. Upon completion, participants will be awarded the prestigious ‘Voice of Heritage Badge’, recognizing their dedication to preserving cultural legacies.
As part of the festivities, an exhibition showcasing Hyderabad’s heritage and ongoing heritage conservation. Efforts will grace the halls of the Salarjung Museum on April 18, offering visitors a glimpse into the city. With city’s rich cultural tapestry and the efforts undertaken to safeguard its legacy.
