India Issues Travel Advisory, Urges Citizens to Avoid Visiting Israel and Iran Amid Heightened Tensions

On April 5, 2024, mourners gathered in Tehran for the funeral procession of seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps members killed in a strike in Syria. Iran attributed the attack, which occurred on April 1 and destroyed the Iranian embassy’s consular annex in Damascus, to Israel. Amid rising tensions, India issued a warning to its citizens against traveling to Iran and Israel, citing concerns that Iran might retaliate against Israel following the strike on its consulate in Syria. Reports indicate that India will halt further migration of construction workers to Israel, with thousands scheduled to depart in April and May.
