Jr. NTR Reveals, ‘Never Meant to Have a Sequel’
Jr NTR recently shared that while he and director Koratala Siva initially planned Devara as a standalone movie. They soon realized that the story was too vast to be contained in just one film. Now, Devara Part 1, an action-packed thriller, is set to hit theaters on September 27. With Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan playing important roles.
In an interview, Jr NTR revealed that the idea of a sequel wasn’t part of the original plan. He mentioned that as they dove deeper into the narrative during filming. They discovered the story was driven by its complex characters, which necessitated splitting it into two parts. “We never intended to make this into two parts,” he explained. “But as we began shooting, we realized it was character-driven, and there was too much to explore in just one film.”

Jr NTR highlighted that the story doesn’t revolve solely around his character, but also around Saif’s character Bhaira and Janhvi’s Thangam. He explained, “Bhaira’s character is too deep to be fully explored in just one part. The same goes for Janhvi’s character, Thangam. What unfolds is a beautiful love story, but it’s not just a typical romantic subplot. Thangam’s character is deeply intertwined with Devara’s, making her crucial to the story.” He also teased that Devara: Part 2 will be a “delight” for audiences.
Set in coastal regions, Devara Part 1 promises to be an epic action saga, filled with thrilling and emotionally charged moments within a historical context. The film follows the protagonist as he becomes a protector of the oppressed and a force against wrongdoers. With this movie, Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are making their Telugu film debuts.
