Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari stands as a landmark in Telugu cinema. Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao, the legendary fantasy film features Chiranjeevi and Sridevi in iconic roles. Produced by Ashwini Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner, the film is making a grand return to the big screen on May 9, celebrating its 35th anniversary in digitally enhanced 4K 2D and 3D formats.
Bringing this classic back wasn’t easy. The original film negative was severely damaged and unusable. In 2018, Vyjayanthi Movies began the daunting task of finding a replacement. After years of searching, they finally located another print in 2021 in Vijayawada—but it too was in poor condition, cut and degraded.

Undeterred, the team partnered with Prasad Corporation to restore the film meticulously, frame by frame. After months of painstaking work, they remastered each frame in 8K resolution and downscaled it to a 4K final version suitable for theatrical screening. To enhance the cinematic experience, they also collaborated with Prime Focus to create a 3D version of the film.
Thanks to their relentless dedication, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is ready to enchant audiences once again. The re-release on May 9 is not just a celebration of the film’s legacy but a tribute to the passion and effort that went into preserving this classic. Fans now have the chance to relive the magic in a whole new way, just as powerful and captivating as it was three and a half decades ago.
