Kaantha Trailer: An Intense Tale of Ego, Art, and Betrayal Between Guru and Disciple
The much-anticipated trailer of Kaantha is finally out, and it offers a powerful glimpse into a story filled with emotions, ego, and drama. Starring Dulquer Salmaan and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles. The period drama is directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, with Bhagyashri Borse playing the female lead.
While the teaser gave audiences a taste of what’s to come, the trailer dives deeper into the central conflict. A heated battle of pride and power between a director and his protégé, portrayed by Samuthirakani and Dulquer respectively.
The story begins with Modern Pictures’ horror film Shaantha, directed by Ayya (Samuthirakani) and featuring “Nata Chakravarthi” TK Mahadeva (Dulquer Salmaan) in the lead. Things take a sharp turn when the film unexpectedly changes hands — the actor decides to take over as director, driven by personal ego and unresolved issues with his mentor, who also happens to be his godfather in the film industry.

Kumari (Bhagyashri Borse), the heroine of Shaantha, sides with Ayya and refuses to accept the hero’s authority, creating a rift on set. The entry of a police officer, played by Rana Daggubati, adds another layer of intensity to the already tangled drama.
The trailer leaves the audience questioning — what led to this fallout? Why did the devoted student rebel against his teacher? How did Shaantha become Kaantha?
Visually and emotionally gripping, the trailer promises a film high on drama and strong performances. Dulquer Salmaan, Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse, Rana Daggubati, and Ravindra Vijay all appear to bring their A-game. Jhanu Chanthar’s background score enhances the film’s tension and emotional depth.
Backed by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri, and Jom Varghese under the Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films banners. Kaantha is all set to hit screens in Telugu and Tamil on November 14, 2025.
