Kantara 1 Joins Pushpa 2, Kalki League
Kantara Chapter 1, which hit theatres on Thursday, opened with a phenomenal response at the box office. The film raked in nearly ₹90 crore on its first day and maintained an impressive hold through the extended weekend, taking its four-day total to around ₹330 crore.
What’s noteworthy is how the film’s buzz picked up dramatically after release. On BookMyShow, Kantara Chapter 1 recorded over one million ticket sales on its opening day. This is a rare milestone achieved by only a handful of Indian films.

The strong streak continued with 1.28 million tickets sold on Thursday, 1.27 million on Friday, 1.3 million on Saturday. 1.04 million on Sunday — marking four straight days of million-plus ticket sales.
So far, only Pushpa 2: The Rule and Kalki 2898 AD have managed such consistency. Pushpa 2 recorded six million-ticket days, while Kalki achieved four. Now, this movie joins this elite club, cementing a significant milestone for Rishab Shetty and his team.
With glowing word of mouth and high expectations surrounding this prequel, its weekday performance will be closely watched. The film stars Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah, and is directed by Rishab Shetty under the Hombale Films banner, produced by Vijay Kiragandur.
