Padma Bhushan Honour for Nandamuri Balakrishna: A Proud Moment for Fans!

The Padma Awards 2025 have recognized several distinguished personalities from Andhra Pradesh. Celebrating their remarkable contributions to the nation across various fields. Among this year’s recipients is the celebrated actor and three-time Hindupur MLA, Nandamuri Balakrishna. Who has been conferred the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s highest civilian honors, for his outstanding contribution to the arts.

Balakrishna’s recognition has filled his fans and the Telugu community with immense pride. Known not only for his stellar acting career but also for his philanthropic efforts. Including his work with the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, Balakrishna has upheld the legacy of his legendary father, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), in both cinema and public service.

Celebrating Other Honorees from Andhra Pradesh

In addition to Balakrishna, several other luminaries from Andhra Pradesh were honored with Padma Shri awards for their contributions across various domains:

  • Kosaraju Leela Krishna: Recognized for his contributions to literature and education, Kosaraju’s work has left a lasting impact in these fields.
  • Dr. Madugula Nagaphani Sarma: A celebrated poet, performer, and passionate advocate for Vedic literature, poetry, and music, Dr. Sarma hails from Kadavakallu village in the Anantapur district.
  • Miriyala Apparao (Posthumous): A Burrakatha artist from Nadakuduru in the Dr. Ambedkar Konaseema district, Apparao’s contributions to traditional art forms were acknowledged with a posthumous honor.
  • Vadiraj Raghawendracharya Panchamukhi: An eminent economist and Sanskrit scholar, Panchamukhi’s work in literature and education has been widely celebrated

Honoring Excellence in Economics

This year’s Padma Shri awards also highlighted excellence in economics. KL Krishna, a distinguished economist and former Head of the Department of Economics at the Delhi School of Economics. Was honored for his significant contributions to the field. Born in 1935 in Unguturu village, Krishna has had a profound influence on the study of economics in India. Guiding over 40 Ph.D. and M.Phil. dissertations and continuing his work as Chairman of the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) in Hyderabad.

The Padma Awards—comprising the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri—are among the nation’s most esteemed honors, celebrating achievements in arts, literature, social work, public affairs, science, medicine, sports, and more. This year’s honors were announced on Republic Day, with a total of 139 awards, including 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri.

Notably, 23 women, 10 individuals from the Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI category, and 13 posthumous awardees were among the recipients.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu extended his heartfelt congratulations to the awardees, saying:
“Heartfelt congratulations to Telugu cinema legend and Hindupur MLA Shri Nandamuri Balakrishna Garu on being conferred the Padma Bhushan! Upholding the legendary NTR Garu’s legacy, you have excelled in cinema, politics, and philanthropy. This honor is well-deserved for your remarkable contributions, especially through the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital.”

The Chief Minister also congratulated other Padma awardees from Andhra Pradesh, as well as Manda Krishna Madiga from Telangana.

The 2025 Padma Awards serve as a testament to the incredible talent and dedication of these individuals. Whose contributions continue to inspire and elevate the nation.
