Pawan Kalyan refuses to take a salary; here’s why!

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan made a notable declaration on Monday, stating his refusal to accept his salary and any special allowances amidst the state’s challenging financial situation. He also declined offers for the renovation and purchase of new furniture for his camp office.

Addressing concerns raised by officials at his camp office regarding renovations and furniture purchases, Mr. Kalyan asserted his decision to reject such privileges. “They asked about renovating the camp office and buying new furniture. I instructed them not to proceed with any renovations and to refrain from purchasing new furniture. If necessary, I will arrange it myself,” he stated during a meeting following his participation in a welfare pension distribution program.

Mr. Kalyan, who also serves as the head of the Panchayat Raj Department, highlighted the department’s financial constraints as a reason for his decisions. He emphasized that despite being approached by Secretariat officials to sign documents related to his ₹35,000 salary for attending the House sessions over three days, he opted to forego these entitlements due to inadequate departmental funds.

The actor-turned-politician’s stance underscores his commitment to fiscal prudence and responsible governance, prioritizing the state’s financial stability over personal benefits. His actions have resonated widely, reflecting a dedication to efficient resource management amid economic challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh.
