Sai Pallavi entered the world of cinema through the Malayalam film Premam in 2015. When talking about popular actresses in the South industry, names like Nayanthara, Trisha, and Samantha often come to mind. However, Sai Pallavi stands out for holding the record for winning the most Filmfare Awards among her peers.
Sai Pallavi made her cinematic debut in Premam, a coming-of-age romance written, directed, and edited by Alphonse Puthren. Produced by Anwar Rasheed, the film starred Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi in key roles. Made on a budget of Rs 4 crore, Premam became a major commercial success, grossing Rs 74.5 crore. It enjoyed a 175-day theatrical run in Kerala and over 300 days in Tamil Nadu.
After this massive success, Sai Pallavi’s career soared. Known for her outstanding acting skills and makeup-free looks, she has won the hearts of fans across the South Indian film industry. She has received praise for her performances in films such as Kali (2016), Middle-Class Abbayi (2017), Maari 2 (2018), Athiran (2019), the Netflix anthology film Paava Kadhaigal (2020), Love Story (2021), Shyam Singha Roy (2021), and Gargi (2022). Her roles in Love Story and Gargi earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Telugu and Tamil, respectively. Her performances in Shyam Singha Roy and Virata Parvam garnered her the Critics Award at the Filmfare Awards South.
She was last seen in the 2022 Tamil-language legal drama film Gargi. She is set to make her Bollywood debut soon, reportedly portraying Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor as Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of the Ramayana.
