August 2024: A Month Packed with a Dozen Notable Releases

In July, Telugu movie distributors and exhibitors faced a challenging month. Aside from the film “Kalki 2898 AD” featuring Prabhas, no other releases managed to generate significant revenue. All Telugu films released in July underperformed at the box office.

August, however, promises a different scenario with a wave of new releases. Starting on August 1st, over a dozen notable films will hit theaters. Each weekend will see several films competing for audience attention.

The first weekend of August 2024 will feature a showdown between Ashwin Babu’s “Shivam Bhaje” and Allu Sirish’s “Buddy.” Additionally, Vijay Antony’s dubbed film “Toofan” and K Vijaya Bhaskar’s “Usha Parianayam” will also be part of the competition.

August 2024: A Month Packed with a Dozen Notable Releases

On August 9th, Konidela Niharika’s “Committee Kurrollu” will be released.

The major clash happens on August 15th, Independence Day, with the release of two highly anticipated films. Ravi Teja’s “Mr Bachchan” and Ram Pothineni’s “Double iSmart.” Both films are expected to perform well at the box office and draw large crowds during the extended Independence Day weekend.

In addition to these blockbuster releases, two concept-driven films. “35 – Chinna Katha Kaadu” (Aug 15) and “Aay” (Aug 16), will also premiere during the same weekend. Vikram’s dubbed film “Thangalan” will also be released on the same day, but, it lacks any significant buzz in the Telugu market.

Following the release of “Mr Bachchan” and “Double iSmart”, another highly anticipated film that is expected to have a huge box office opening is “Saripodhaa Sanivaaram”, starring Nani. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on August 29. Nani has consistently achieved success in generating either hit or above-average movies. His films generate good openings. During August, there will be a maximum amount of activity at ticket windows due to the release of these three movies.
