Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, best known for Kabir Singh and Animal, is currently preparing for his next major project, Spirit, starring Prabhas in the lead. Originally, Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone was expected to play the female lead. However, recent media reports suggest that she is no longer associated with the film.
As per updates from Telugu entertainment portals, Deepika has allegedly been dropped from the film following disagreements over several terms. Sources close to the production claim that her requests were seen as “unprofessional” and led to mounting tension with the director.
Reportedly, Deepika asked for an 8-hour workday, which, in practical terms, meant only 6 hours of actual filming. Furthermore, she is said to have requested a large paycheck—allegedly around ₹20 crore—alongside a share in the movie’s profits. Another reported sticking point was her refusal to speak her lines in Telugu, which added to the friction.

Interestingly, previous reports from Pinkvilla had linked Deepika’s withdrawal to her pregnancy. Initially, she had opted out due to scheduling issues, but reportedly agreed to rejoin after a revised timeline was proposed by the director.
Deepika was last seen on screen in Jawan and Kalki 2898 AD. While she hasn’t officially revealed her next projects, industry chatter suggests she could be part of Kalki’s sequel, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, and the film King.
As of now, neither Deepika Padukone nor Sandeep Reddy Vanga has publicly addressed the reported fallout. Nonetheless, the news of her alleged exit has already sparked significant buzz across social media.
