KCR on a 17-Day Bus Yatra for BRS ahead of Lok Sabha Polls
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President K. Chandrasekhar Rao, commonly known as KCR, embarked on a bus yatra in Telangana on Wednesday to boost his party’s campaign ahead of next month’s Lok Sabha elections. The former Chief Minister kicked off the 17-day yatra by paying tribute to the statue of Telangana Talli at the BRS headquarters. He then boarded a bus along with senior BRS leaders, departing for Miryalguda.
The bus yatra will cover 40 towns across 12 out of 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana, continuing until May 10. KCR’s journey began by passing through L.B. Nagar, Chout Uppal, and Nalgonda before reaching Miryalguda, where he addressed a public meeting on Wednesday evening. Following the meeting, he conducted a roadshow in Suryapet.
Throughout the bus yatra, KCR stopped at various locations in Nalgonda district to meet with farmers. During these interactions, farmers shared their concerns, including issues related to water shortages, power outages, and the impact of unseasonal rains on their crops. KCR aims to engage with farmers and hear their grievances during the yatra. In the evenings, he will address public meetings to connect with the public.
This extensive tour will cover most of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana, except for Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Chevella, Malkajgiri, and Adilabad. KCR has already addressed public meetings in Karimnagar, Medak, and Chevella Lok Sabha constituencies.
KCR on a 17-Day Bus Yatra for BRS ahead of Lok Sabha Polls
To ensure the bus yatra’s success, the BRS has made extensive arrangements. Due to the ongoing heatwave in the state, the party has taken extra precautions, including using smaller buses where necessary. Local leaders have been assigned responsibilities in their respective constituencies to oversee the yatra’s smooth execution.
Security is also a key focus, with the BRS deploying private security personnel, including bouncers, to ensure KCR’s safety. These measures are crucial after the BRS’s loss to Congress in the November 2023 Assembly elections, which led to several defections. Five sitting MPs, three MLAs, and other elected representatives switched to the Congress or BJP, posing a challenge to BRS’s efforts to regain political ground.
In the Assembly elections, the BRS secured 39 seats in the 119-member House, reflecting a significant loss of support. The bus yatra represents KCR’s effort to reconnect with voters, address their concerns, and regain political momentum as the Lok Sabha elections approach.
