A Revanth Reddy, the Chief Minister of Telangana said that some prominent film personalities who have interacted with him have urged him to resume the Nandi awards. He also added that these awards would be named after Gaddar.

Gaddar is an eminent personality who has contributed to films and music. These awards are usually presented to artists, poets, and film personalities. 

Nandi Awards to be named after Gaddar

These declarations came in as he was speaking at the birth anniversary celebrations of the late singer. The Chief Minister has shared his praises for the singer, who had contributed to the formation of the Telangana state and also the uplifting of the poor. 

The Chief Minister said, “I am saying from this podium that we give respect to Gaddar by naming the awards after him. Presented by the state government, the awards would be given to poets, artists, and film personalities. What I am saying is Government Order (GO)”

Nandi Awards to be named after Gaddar

Gaddar, who passed away last year in August, at a private hospital at the age of 77, is a poet and also a balladeer. Born in a Dalit family as Gummadi Vittal Rao in Telangana’s Medak district. He was the voice of the poor. 

His contribution to Telangana moment:

His contribution, when the Telangana moment has arise, he extended his support for this demanding the separate state for Telangana, which core intent was to uplift the lower caste, like backward class and Dalits. He made it clear that he was strongly aligned with those who are in support for Telangana.

And also to the social justice where schedule casts and schedule tribes to have political rights on par with the BC’S and OC’s of this state.
